UAE National Day 2022 – Glimpses Of Festivities And History.

The National Day of the United Arab Emirates is celebrated every year on the 2nd of December 2022. The date commemorates the day on which the countries were formed by joining the adjoining Emirates. The holiday is not only for the natives, but it is for anyone that considers UAE to be their home. Each year the people get out of their houses, tour the famous landmarks of their Emirate, and take part in festivals. The day is a national holiday, which gives people a perfect chance to spend it with their loved ones. THE HISTORY BEHIND 2ND DECEMBER The 2nd of December is the day that the adjoining states or emirates decided to join as one and call themselves the United Arab Emirates. They have not always been the united force they are now, in fact, they were once hostile towards one another. In the early 1800s when Britain was out acquiring land and control all over the world, it realized the potential of the soon-to-be UAE. Dubai was always an important trade route, and along with being a warm sea port, it always held historic importance. Just like how crypto miners are pioneers in selling crypto mining rigs to mining enthusiasts, in the past there were many pioneers who brought with them skills and products to be sold in this city. Once the British left the area in 1968, the tribal leaders of different emirates saw the need to unite together. They believed that it was better to unite as one than to have a foreign figure preside over them. The brotherhood began with the joining of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and Al Ain. The unification of the 6 emirates was completed on 2nd December 1971, which become known as the UAE National Day. To the surprise of most, it was after two months that the seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah joined the United Arab Emirates. The rulers of each of the emirates elected the Emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as their first President. The most amazing factor of the unification was that all of the agreement was done without any violence and purely through dialogue. UNIQUE WAYS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL DAY A national day for the citizens of any country is a special day in which they look back at their history. This includes paying tribute to leaders, soldiers, martyrs, doctors, and government officers that have been involved in the welfare of the country. As a way to celebrate National Day this year, you could celebrate in one or more ways mentioned below. Become the host There is no way to showcase your love for your country than by being as vocal about it as possible. And there is nothing more vocal than throwing a party on the big day. Dressing up in cultural outfits, getting together with friends and families, and sharing food together. Being together is perhaps the best way to spend the day. Give back As a patriot, you can organize a clean-up activity, and visit the orphanages or the homeless shelters. Remembering those that are left to fend for themselves is extremely important. The activity can be for a few hours and would allow you to bring smiles to many faces. The government of UAE has taken part in giving back to society. They announced that deserving nationals riddled in debt would be relieved of what they owed. Visit famous landmarks Whether you are thinking of visiting different emirates, or famous landmarks close to your home. Getting out and about is perhaps one of the best ways to celebrate National Day. This is one of the reasons why the government has removed parking fees and cut back 50% on all traffic fines for the three days. It is also why the government has announced a national holiday, with business returning back to usual on Monday. CONCLUSION Choose the people you want to spend this national day with. Plan your favorite activities. Visit the Burj Al Arab or Jumeriah at Saadiyat Island Resort and witness the fireworks. Or become a part of the official celebrations at the Zayed Sports City Stadium. The United Arab Emirates has a fun-filled weekend planned for everyone who calls UAE a home.
